Is summer over already?

July 29, 2008: Today, the kids and I went to the free lunch at the park, then we took Bailee for her Kindergarten testing. She starts Kindergarten on Monday, August 4th. And she is going to be in the all day class! So basically, this is the last week I have her during the day while it's still hot weather. It's her last chance to get the free lunches, and to swim at the outdoor pool, (on a weekday, anyway. I wouldn't attempt going there on a weekend). Time is slipping through my fingers!! But she is SO excited to start Kindergarten. She keeps asking me, "how many more days, mom?" And she did very well on her test today!

Oh, how I've missed this....

July 26, 2008: This is the first time I've gone on a horse ride since before I was pregnant with Ryker! I can't believe he's almost 10 months old, and I haven't gone before now. My dad and I just went for about 1 1/2 hours out at Lakepoint. There's no feeling like running on horseback. I wish I had time to ride more often.

Backyard Camp Out

Last Friday, July 25th, we wanted to take the kids camping. But then we remembered how much work is involved, and how much gas costs, so we just pitched the tent in the back yard. They still had fun. Ryker slept soundly in his own bed. I actually went inside around midnight because the wind kept blowing, and in a tent that gets pretty annoying. So Kev and the girls camped out all night.

Happy Pioneer Day!

This year for the 24th, we actually just bought a $10 pack of fireworks and some sparklers, and just did them in the street. But this is the first year we've done it alone, just me, Kev, and the kids! We always seem to have people over or go somewhere for the 24th, so it was a nice change. After we lit ours, we got up on the roof to watch all the fireworks around us and over the valley. Ryker was in bed, of course, I wouldn't dare take him up there. The girls were a little nervous, (so was I, having them up there), but they just stayed on the blanket and held still for the most part. It was a fun night!

Ryker is crawling now!

Here's Ryker crawling, July 24, 2008. He started when I was gone to camp during the week of July 15-18, when he was 9 months old. He's getting so good at it now! I have to re-child proof my house.

Messy face!

Little Ryker at mealtime! Yum.

It's been a very busy couple of weeks.....

It's nice to be home after being gone so much lately....

I went to our ward's Youth Conference July 11-12 up at Brighton Camp. It was SO fun! One of the activities we did was climbing to the top of this tree, standing up, (which was SO scary when there's nothing to hold on to and the tree is wabbling), then jumping off of it to grab a ring dangling in mid air. I was shaking the whole time I was up there, and for about 20 minutes afterwards. But it was SO fun! I did it twice and it wasn't nearly as bad the second time around, but I was still shaking! I'm so glad I was able to participate, they had so many spiritual activities and it was great for the youth and for the leaders.

So I got home Saturday around 11:00 PM, went to church on Sunday, then had to pack for girls camp on Monday. We left Tuesday morning, July 15, and came home Friday, July 18. Camp was awesome too! We got to go boating at Rockport. We had a blast. It was a ward camp this year, so it was a little more laid back. The girls started a huge waterfight, we did crafts, had devotionals, and some of the best dutch oven cooking there is. Thanks, Sandy!

I got home from camp Friday around 1:00, hurried and unpacked, then packed for St. George. We left again around 7:00 PM. Kevin & CPS wired a house down there, and we decided to take our families & have some fun. We boated at Sand Hollow (SO warm!), shopped, swam at the pool, and even hiked a little in Zions. It was a great week. I'm glad to be home though.

I got to fly with Kevin!

Justin Dalton & I got to ride in the back on one of Kev's flights. I got a little nauseated. It was SO hot in there, and he was practicing his turns. ecckk. Here's a couple pictures from the sky. One is of the Utah Olympic Oval & Fitness Center, and one is our neighborhood.

4th of July weekend in Wyoming!!

We had an awesome weekend in Wyoming over the 4th. We visited Shane & Dawna in Jackson Hole Thursday and Friday, then spent Saturday and Sunday in Star Valley with Kevin's family at the barn. We went to Grand Teton National Park, took the Ferry across Jenny Lake, and hiked to Hidden Falls and up toward Inspiration Point. Shane took us to Mormon Row, a historic preserved section of road with a bunch of old barns and buildings, we ate yummy food, and had a ton of fun! We got to see the parade in Jackson Hole on Friday and the one in Afton on Saturday. The kids loved it. :-) It was a great Independence Day weekend!

Chapman Family 5k participants

We had the Gaylen Chapman reunion over June 27-28. We had a BBQ and campout at Kyle & Brianne's on Friday night, with games and a program. Saturday morning, most of us participated in the West Valley 5K. Then we went to Raging Waters all day, then back to Kyle & Brianne's to watch the WestFest fireworks. It was a great reunion, thanks Kyle & Brianne!

Kevin placed 2nd in the stroller division: 25:21, I placed 3rd in my age division, (Female 30-34): 26:28, Kyle finished 1st in the stroller division: 25:12, Brianne finished 2nd female overall: 22:10, Glade finished second in his age division: 26:25. He beat me by 3 seconds!

Goodbye, Scottie!

We sold our 3 year old gelding to Josh from Aurora, Utah. He'll be working on a cattle farm. I'm so glad he'll get used and have lots of work to do! I was sad to see him go, but he'll have a good life. We've also got a Missouri Fox Trotter for sale if anyone's looking....

Flight Lesson

The kids and I went with Kevin to the airport just before his flight lesson on June 27, 2008 so we could see what he does. It's SO small in these planes. Smaller than any car I've been in. The girls sat in the back seat for a few minutes, and they keep saying, "when do we get to fly with daddy?" He's taking his lessons at airport #2, right by our house. We get to listen to him on the radio, and see him fly right over our house.

Dance Recital

Bailee and Trinidee had their dance recital on May 28, 2008 at Kearns High School. Bailee danced to "You've got a friend in me" from Toy Story, and Trinidee danced to "We are Siamese" from Lady and the Tramp. They did so good, and were SOOO cute!
