So I'm finally getting around to posting about our Cruise! Life has been pretty busy around here since we've been back, and my blog has been on the back burner fo a while.
We went from March 1-5 to the Bahamas from Miami, with some good friends of ours from our ward, the Cole's. Miami was probably the warmest part of our trip. We should have taken advantage of it while we had it! But who knew it would be cold & windy in the Bahamas? I should have packed warmer clothes!
So here are a few pics of us while we were leaving Miami.
Here's some shots of our first meal on the ship, still in Miami. The cruise food was fabulous! This meal in particular probably wasn't the best one, (just burgers & salads, etc.), but overall, the food was great, and we ate A LOT of it!
Here's some better food: our dinner the first night. We ate in this restaurant every evening. It was nice. A lot of the time we would order more than one appetizer, entree, and dessert!
Our first stop was Freeport, on Grand Bahama Island. It was windy, and cool enough to need a jacket, and it even poured rain part of the time we were there. There wasn't too much to do in this little town. We shopped, but soon realized most of the shops had the exact same items, and we took a cab to the beach. We walked on to the beach and the wind was blowing so hard that it blew the sand into our faces, and it wasn't too much fun. So we did see the ocean, but didn't swim. Frank got his feet wet, but that was about it. Even though we didn't do what we planned on doing, which was maybe swimming, and laying on the beach, we still had a good time!
In the evenings on the ship, we had so much fun eating and playing a LOT of Yahtzee and Nerts. There were times when I was laughing so hard I was crying. I think the most fun times of the whole trip were on the ship! The entertainment was awesome, and the cruise director was a hilarious English man.
Our second stop, Nassau, was RIDICULOUSLY windy!! We had booked a shore excursion to go snorkeling and have a bbq on the beach, but that was obviously cancelled. So we just took a little boat over to "Paradise Island" where the Atlantis hotel is. The hotel is probably the biggest tourist attraction in the town. It has this ginormous Aquarium, with sting rays and all kinds of fish, so we went to see that. There was a scuba diver inside cleaning the glass. Then we decided to take the elevators up to see if there was an open hotel room we could check out. There was, and the maid invited us in to see the view outside. You can see from the bottom-right picture how WINDY it was that day! But the views were gorgeous anyway. It was a really cool resort!
So our last stop was supposed to be at Great Stirrup Cay, but the high winds caused the cruise to cancel that stop altogether. So instead of leaving Nassau that night, we just stayed there, and left the following morning, and spent the day at sea, slowly headed back to Miami. We did get in the hot tub once on the ship. That night, we had Escargot!! I don't care if they taste good. It's a friggin snail, and I don't need to be eating that kind of crap. I put it in my mouth and swallowed it whole, but still couldn't stop the gag reflex. I can't stand the thought of biting into it. Nasty! We all ate one. Kevin gagged & spit it out. Gross.
Despite the crappy weather, we had a great time!! I can't wait to go on another one, maybe a warmer one. :)
