On June 1, my oldest niece, Madison, graduated from Hunter High School!! I can't believe I graduated from that same high school 17 years earlier. I'm so OLD!!
Madi is an awesome person. I'm so proud of her and the young woman she has become. She was just 6 years old when I met Kevin and came into the family. *sniff* Now she's all grown up.
Some of the families' reaction when they called her name...
Here's a random cool moonrise over Lone Peak, on June 3.
And we watched the Venus Eclipse on June 5. I used Kevin's welding mask over my camera lens to get this shot. Venus is the tiny little dot. The kids thought it was pretty cool to see!
On June 7, I went with my dad, sister, and our kids up to Albion Basin. We hiked up a ways until the others had to go back for other responsibilities. They took Ryker with them since he was sick of hiking. I wanted to keep going, so I took Beckham and the girls and we hiked all the way up to Catherine's Pass from the Alta side.
There was still tons of snow, and it was muddy and slippery. I fell down with Beckham and got all muddy...
On June 14, the same clan of people hiked to Stewart Falls. This was my first time hiking there, and I LOVED it. It was simply gorgeous.
June 15-16 was my first Ragnar experience. It's a 192 mile relay race from Logan to Park City. I was runner number 3, with 6.8 hard miles for my 1st leg, 4.9 moderate miles for my 2nd leg, and 7.7 hard miles for my 3rd leg, 19.4 miles total. I knew one person on the team I joined, Rochelle. But I quickly made friends with the rest of the team. They were all awesome, and all women in the car I was in. :) Here's Rochelle decorating the car:
Here's 1/2 of our team at the starting line in Logan early Friday morning...
Here I am handing off my first baton in Paradise, UT.
After our first legs, we had a rest here at Snowbasin.
This is when things started going downhill for me. I didn't have much of an appetite for some reason, which is weird because I'm always hungry after a run. I gagged down some food anyway, because I knew I needed the fuel.
As the day progressed, I felt more and more sick to my stomach. Long story short, after running my second leg, and hours of having pain in my stomach, I ended up puking on the side of the road while we were driving along our current racer. And the rest of the race is just a blur. I couldn't keep anything down. I was weak, tired, wishing I could just go lay down in my own bed, and mad that I couldn't complete my 3rd leg.
My awesome team members had to pick up the slack for me. They did it like it was nothin'.
We slept at a High School in Kamas that night, and I hardly got a wink. I was in the bathroom laying on the floor half the night. It. Was. Miserable. I couldn't even keep water down, and I was so dehydrated and thirsty. I just rode in the back seat of the car laying down the rest of the time. It took effort just to sit up and look out the window to cheer the other racers on, and to take some pictures.
I missed out on the last 1/3 of the race, and I was pretty disappointed.
I was able to cross the finish line with my whole team, and it was great to be done. A few days later, I signed up for next years race, so I can redeem myself.
On June 22-24, we had a fun camping trip with 2 of our friend-families! We went up to Affleck Park, went boating at Rockport, and made our first music video! It was a blast.
Aaaand, that covers our month of June!
