January

January started off with Kevin and I heading up to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for our 13 year wedding anniversary. We spent 4 days/3 nights there.

We stayed at the Lodge at Jackson Hole. I noticed that hotel years ago, and thought it looked like a cool place. So I've wanted to stay there for a long time. I'm glad we did. I loved it!

We went to my brother's work at the Jackson Hole airport. I had never been there, so it was neat to see!

We snowshoed to Taggart Lake, about 3.2 miles round trip. It was snowy and cloudy, so we couldn't see the Tetons. :(  But we still had a lot of fun!

Our hotel...

This is a picture from our honeymoon, January 2000. I love that Kevin's not wearing a coat. And it was SO cold!

And here we are in the same spot, almost exactly 13 years later. I'm glad the weather cleared up so we could get a pic.

Death canyon...

We stopped at Kelly Warm Springs, near Kelly, WY. The steam made some cool crystals on everything surrounding it.

Then we drove around the area, seeing an abundance of wildlife. It amazes me that anything can survive those harsh winters.

You can see the big chunk of the mountain that came down in a landslide back in 1925, forming Slide Lake.

We went snowboarding at Snow King resort the next day. It was 17 BELOW zero! And that resort is pretty much in the shade all day, so there was no warming up in the sun, other than at the very top, which was where these pics were taken from. We still had lots of fun, although I don't think I've ever felt cold like that in my entire life. It was actually quite painful.

Town of Jackson Hole...

We headed home on Sunday, and stopped at the Bedford Cemetery on the way home to visit Myrna's grave. They don't maintain the roads at the cemetery, and we had to just park at the entrance and snowshoe in. The snow was SO deep!

The rest of January was spent working on our house project, which will be in another blog post.

Other than that, I just have a couple of random shots I took. This one was one morning after we had suffered through the inversion that seemed like it lasted for weeks. We hadn't seen the sun or blue skies for so long. So when we woke up to clear skies and sunshine, I had to take a shot!

And this is one evening when the city lights were bouncing off of the snow & clouds. It looked awesome. :)
