Sunset Peak

On August 22, we were invited to go with our friends Heidi, Jackson & Gavin on a hike up to Sunset Peak. It was the perfect day for hiking! Nice & overcast, cool, and it even rained a little, which felt wonderful after the heat we've been having in the valley. The hike is 6 miles round trip from the Brighton side, (you can also start from the Alta side).

I don't see bluejays very often. But after googling it, I don't think this bird is a bluejay. Oh well, it's a pretty blue bird anyway. Sorry about the blur...

This hike is great because it's nice & gradual, and you get to pass 3 lakes on the way up. This is the first lake, Lake Mary. I love the granite shoreline...

After we arrived at the lake, it wasn't long before the chipmunks came and begged for food.

This is Bailee & I above Lake Mary.

And here we are at Catherine's Pass. Bailee & Jackson are pointing up to Sunset Peak. Not much further!

We made it! I've taken Bailee on lots of hikes, but this is her first summit! She did great!
Sunset Peak sits at 10,648 ft.

Lake Catherine (bottom), Lake Martha (middle), and Lake Mary (top).

American Fork Twin Peaks in the center, Snowbird tram on the right.

Heber/Midway below us....

And Timpanogos, one of my favorite mountains!

After the hike, Bailee wanted to take a breather on the ski lift. :)

It was a fun day! Thanks to great friends for inviting us!

Trinidee's Birthday & Baptism

Trinidee had her birthday party with friends on her actual Birthday, August 16. I browsed Pinterest for some "Minute to Win It" ideas and we played a few. This one consisted of a plate floating in a big bowl of water, and 5 empty aluminum cans. You just had to stack all 5 cans on top of each other. It was harder than it looked!

Bailee almost had all 5, but then it fell over.

The next game we tried was getting 3 pieces of pasta on a piece of spaghetti, using only your mouth. I only had angel hair, but it probably would have worked better with regular spaghetti, because the angel hair kept breaking.

Trin loved her presents!

The following Sunday, August 19, was her baptism day. She has been so excited to be baptized, and was super happy all day long! First we went to her friend Kira's baptism, and she just kept asking, "Is it my turn yet? When is it my turn?". She couldn't wait.

We had a dinner afterwards at our home. She had so many family members & friends there to support her on her big day!

Our home/visiting teacher made these cute cookies. :)
It was a great day!

Trin's baptism pics

She's so excited to get baptized in a few days! We're still 10 days away from her 8th birthday, but here are her pictures in her pretty white dress!

Beckham turns ONE!

Time has just flown by this first year of his life. I really can't believe how fast he's grown. He's no longer a little baby, but we just love him more & more every day!
He turned 1 on July 17, 2012.

I gave him a haircut on his birthday. Doesn't he look handsome??

He loves to bury his face in anything soft. If he's crawling along and sees a pillow or blanket, he'll open his mouth wide, make an "aaahhh" sound, and smoosh his face in it. It's so cute!

We didn't have a huge party for him. I figured since he won't remember it, why go to all the work, right? He also didn't get many presents, just a couple of outfits. He loved his cake though!
Happy Birthday to our little Ham!
