Ward Garden

Last night for our combined Young Men/Young Womens activity, we prepped the ward garden for planting. We have a sister in the ward that lets us use her whole back yard. The ward plants and takes care of it, and whoever wants to can come and get the food grown in it! We didn't do it last year, so there was quite a bit of overgrowth. Here it is before, notice the sad faces:

And here it is after! The youth are planning on sectioning off their own portion of the garden to claim as "theirs" and take care of it. We plan on doing a salsa garden and maybe some pumpkins for the fall.

It sure was a lot of work! I think it was a great experience for everyone! I couldn't believe those weeds!

That is so awesome, I was going to ask where your ward had space for a ward garden. I would love to have a garden but don't have room. The youth did a great job and hope they get excited and love to see the progress of what they grow!

Yeah, Tia, you really cracked the whip. I wanted to clear a spot big enough for a flower pot and you convinced everyone to do the whole yard. How's that for motivation?
