A Perfect Thanksgiving....

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving today! It started with the Turkey Trot 6K at City Creek Canyon. Kevin & I ran it together. He doesn't run often at all, so I really enjoyed having him there with me. The only thing that bothers me is that I'm the one who trains all the time, but he still beats me every time we run together. We did a 5K last Thanksgiving, and we'd like to make it a tradition every year. I can't think of a better way to start off the day than to go for a good run!

I couldn't resist taking a picture of these crazies. One's an indian, and one's a turkey, (in case you couldn't tell).

Here we are after the race. Kev finished 17th in his age group w/ 32:36, and I finished 18th in my age group w/ 33:18. There were about 1000 racers!

By the capitol.

We cleaned up, made our pies and veggie tray, then headed over for a delicious Thanksgiving Feast!

And what is Thanksgiving without a nap?...

Some Football....

Reading all the ads......

And a good brotherly arm wrestle!!

By the way, it was a tie. They just sat in that position for a long time, and called it even.

Here are our PIES!!

Tonight we turned on our Christmas lights. We like to wait until after Thanksgiving to turn them on. Ta Daa!

Here's a cool Thanksgiving poem:

Thanksgiving Every Day

The table is brimming with good things to eat;
We're surrounded by family and friends; what a treat.
The feelings that fill us today can't be beat;
It's Thanksgiving Day, and it all feels complete.

But other days, sometimes things don't seem so fine;
Those days are not polished and don't seem to shine.
It's then in our minds, we forget all the good,
And think of the things we would get, if we could.

On days when our thinking causes us dread,
If we could remember, it's all in our head,
And not let our minds take our gratitude away,
Then we'd make every day like Thanksgiving Day.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Sounds like you had a perfect day! I really can't believe Kevin can run a 6K without training. Wow! Sounds like Marty on a bike ride without much training. He'll probably be more sore than you though. :)

Yes, Kevin is more sore than me today. Ha ha. Serves him right for beating me.

Way to go! I am always so impressed and jealous when I hear about you running. I wish I could run 30 sec. without passing out.
Tell Glade I love his hair!
